Every year, the ACFFA organizes Atlantic Canada’s premier aquaculture research conference that brings together industry professionals to learn about the latest trends, opportunities, innovations and research in our sector. Our Aquaculture Research, Science and Technology Forum is an important event that contributes to the industry’s evolution and growth.

ACFFA’s 2024 Aquaculture Research, Science and Technology Forum
November 6 and 7, 2024
St. Andrews, NB

Based on positive feedback from participants in 2023, ACFFA’s 2024 Aquaculture Research, Science and Technology Forum will include TWO evening events and ONE day of science presentations.

Wednesday, November 6th
Join us for ‘a whale of a time’ at the Right Whale Pub at the Algonquin Resort (184 Adolphus St.) for an evening welcome reception (6-8pm) a variety of tasty hors d’oeuvres and snacks.

Thursday, November 7th
A full day of science and research presentations at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre (1 Lower Campus Rd.) followed by our Charity & Awards Dinner at Drewhaven Town & Country  (255 Water St.) where we will award the 2024 Atlantic Canada Aquaculture Award. Charity auction to be held in support of ACFFA’s annual Atlantic Salmon Research Award.

You are not going to want to miss this event hosted ACFFA, the only association in our region focused solely on the salmonid farming sector!

Note: The change to a November event will be for 2024 only. Our 2025 Fall Forum will go back to our traditional dates during the third week of October (Oct 22 &23).

Atlantic Salmon Research Award.

Applications are open for ACFFA’s new Atlantic Salmon Research Award!
The Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Association Salmon Research Award was established in honour of Betty House whose passion for and dedication to salmon in Atlantic Canada was marked by her 20+ year career in the salmon aquaculture industry and her role in the Inner Bay of Fundy Salmon Recovery Project.

The $2000 annual award is presented to a post secondary student who is making contributions to research in fish health, nutrition, innovation, genetics, and/or technologies that contribute to Atlantic salmon rearing, stocking, or conservation. Deadline to apply is May 20, 2024.

Atlantic Canada Aquaculture Award.

The ACFFA established the Atlantic Canada Aquaculture Award in 2017.

The award honours an industry professional who has dedicated 25 years or more in the areas of science, environment, and technology in support of the sustainable development of salmon aquaculture in Atlantic Canada. Previous recipients include:
